Visa is expanding the financial data available to blockchain lenders as demand for stablecoin-linked payment cards accelerates. The company plans to combine its settlement information with onchain lending infrastructure, giving lenders greater insight into digital-asset fintech firms and card issuers seeking financing.

The payment network now supports more than 160 stablecoin-linked card programs, representing an increase of nearly 200% from the previous year. Visa is also testing smart-contract credit facilities with Credit Coop as regulated stablecoins become more closely integrated with conventional payments and financial services.

Market Reaction

  • Visa Inc. (NYSE: V): $369.03, down $5.93 (1.58%)
  • Mastercard Inc. (NYSE: MA): $568.57, down $10.64 (1.84%)
  • PayPal Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: PYPL): $53.26, down $1.70 (3.09%)
  • Circle Internet Group Inc. (NYSE: CRCL): $97.86, down $4.19 (4.11%)
  • Coinbase Global Inc. (NASDAQ: COIN): $180.62, down $4.02 (2.18%)

Investor Sentiment

The expansion illustrates how payment networks are positioning themselves to benefit from stablecoin adoption without abandoning their established infrastructure. Providing lenders with verified settlement data could improve credit assessment and help growing card issuers access capital more efficiently.

Declines across payment and cryptocurrency stocks suggest investors remain cautious despite rapid growth in stablecoin-linked products. Market participants will monitor transaction volumes, credit performance and regulatory developments to determine whether onchain lending can move beyond crypto-focused activity and become a durable part of mainstream finance.
