DENVER, Colo. (247marketnews.com) — Beam Global (NASDAQ:BEEM) has another reason to be bullish on its proposed expansion into industrial drones: ScoutDI, the Norwegian drone company it has agreed to acquire, has secured an order from a customer in the nuclear sector. The deal adds tangible customer demand to Beam’s acquisition strategy just weeks before the transaction is expected to close.

The customer’s identity and order value remain undisclosed for security reasons. But the application is significant. ScoutDI’s Scout 137 tethered drone is designed to inspect confined spaces where sending workers can be dangerous, time-consuming and expensive. Its system combines 4K visual inspections, ultrasonic thickness measurements and 3D LiDAR data, while its Scout Portal software turns inspection results into navigable 3D models and reports.

“This order from the nuclear sector confirms that ScoutDI’s product is a proven solution with real customers in the most demanding industries of today,” Beam Global CEO Desmond Wheatley said.

On October 7, 2026, Beam announced a definitive agreement to acquire ScoutDI, positioning the company to add drone hardware and AI-enhanced inspection software to its existing energy, transportation and security infrastructure portfolio. The transaction is valued at a base purchase price of $24 million, subject to customary adjustments, with additional potential earn-out payments tied to ScoutDI’s revenue. Closing is expected in early November, subject to customary conditions.

The opportunity extends beyond one customer. Research published in January 2026 by The Business Research Company estimates that the global nuclear inspection services market will grow from $2.96 billion in 2025 to $4.27 billion by 2030, a projected compound annual growth rate of 7.6%. Robotics, drones, advanced sensors and AI-enabled inspection are among the trends supporting that outlook.

ScoutDI says its technology has completed more than 7,000 recorded inspection flights and serves industrial customers in over 25 countries. CEO Nicolai Husteli described the nuclear order as an important milestone, adding that recent weeks had brought order intake across new market segments, geographies and its partner network.
