Improving technicals, a 45% increase in reported short interest and fresh Abu Dhabi developments put November’s FDA meeting in focus.
DENVER, Colo. (247marketnews.com) — Ugly charts get ignored. Improving charts get watched. When meaningful news arrives while expectations remain depressed, the conversation can change quickly and we believe NeOnc Technologies Holdings (NASDAQ:NTHI) deserves attention before that conversation changes.
Following its recent low near $2.50, NTHI’s chart is beginning to show a different character: tighter daily trading, generally higher recent lows and a flattening short-term moving average.
At the $2.89 reference price in the October 21 chart snapshot, NTHI had reclaimed its daily 9-day EMA near $2.79, crossed above the previously displayed VWAP near $2.87, and edged above R1 resistance around $2.8833. The daily MACD histogram had also turned slightly positive.
The ugly chart is starting to clean up. Now comes the $3 test.
The session high near $2.96 and R2 around $2.9967 define the immediate breakout zone. A sustained move through that area with expanding volume would strengthen our view that stabilization is developing into recovery.
Above $3, attention shifts to $3.30–$3.40, where prior trading activity meets the declining 50-day EMA near $3.38. Then comes $3.50, a level where we believe pressure could intensify on shorts who entered below it. Stops and risk-driven covering could add demand just as breakout traders begin paying attention.
Near-term support sits around $2.75–$2.80, with $2.50 marking the recent base low.
The short position adds another ingredient.
Reported short interest increased from 522,311 shares on September 15 to 757,739 on September 30, an additional 235,428 shares, or approximately 45.1%. That represents a substantial buildup in outstanding short positions heading into October.
Meanwhile, the October 21 snapshot showed approximately 98,900 shares traded, compared with a displayed 60-day average near 208,500. We interpret the quieter trading and tighter daily ranges as a possible easing of selling pressure. If offers remain thin when stronger buying arrives, the advance could accelerate.
That is the potential squeeze setup we’re watching: improving technical levels, an enlarged short position and news capable of attracting fresh demand.
The distance between the market price and published analyst targets makes the story more interesting. Alliance Global Partners published a $13 target, BTIG $15, Maxim $20 and Roth Capital $20. Those four targets average $17, nearly six times the chart’s $2.89 reference price.
We believe that gap deserves investigation. The company’s progress provides investors with concrete developments to evaluate alongside those valuations.
On October 21, NeOnc announced a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Health–Abu Dhabi covering proposed research and clinical collaboration, scientific exchange, specialist training and real-world evidence. The announcement also reported that two children were receiving investigational NEO100 through its Compassionate Care program, with a third expected that week.
That follows an update that brings the human stakes into sharp focus.
A three-year-old boy. An aggressive brain tumor. A ventilator helping him breathe.
According to NeOnc’s report, his treating physicians observed that he was breathing independently without ventilator support and beginning to move his legs following initiation of NEO100.
For the family watching his bedside, those are moments of hope. For investors following NeOnc, they are a reason to look beyond the chart and understand the work underway.
Next on the calendar is November 17, when NeOnc is scheduled to meet with the FDA about NEO212’s proposed Phase 2 study design and potential regulatory pathways. We believe greater clarity on those next steps could materially influence investor expectations.
Imagine opening your screen after a meaningful clinical or regulatory update and finding that the market has reassessed the story. That possibility is why we’re studying NTHI now. We see an improving technical setup alongside developments that could challenge the pessimism surrounding the company.
When we step away from our desks, the fight against brain cancer continues. We’re thankful companies like NeOnc are pursuing better treatments for patients who urgently need them.
$3 is the immediate test. $3.50 is a potential pressure point. November gives traders a date to circle.
Technical levels and trading-volume figures reflect the October 21, 2026 chart snapshots reviewed for this editorial.
