DENVER, Colo. (247marketnews.com) — J-Star Holding (NASDAQ:YMAT) is positioning its decades of carbon-fiber expertise for a new growth market, advancing plans to establish a U.S. drone-frame manufacturing platform in the Greater Houston area.

The company announced that it is negotiating to acquire a commercial manufacturing facility that could anchor a planned Texas operation through YMA (TX) INC., an independent U.S. entity intended to support joint ventures with North American drone developers, aerospace manufacturers and industrial partners.

The move comes as the United States pushes to strengthen domestic drone production and supply chains. Commercial unmanned aircraft are increasingly important across industrial inspection, infrastructure monitoring, logistics and other applications, while national-security concerns and evolving procurement policies have intensified attention on where drones and their components are manufactured.

J-Star’s proposed advantage is its manufacturing heritage. The company says its composite-materials experience stretches back more than 50 years, spanning products from bicycles and sporting goods to automotive structures, healthcare equipment and robotic components. For the Texas initiative, it plans to contribute proprietary carbon-fiber technologies, resin formulations, composite structural designs, engineering expertise and technical support for automated production-line installation.

“Being in active negotiations to secure our Houston manufacturing site located in the Greater Houston area marks a decisive step forward in our North American expansion strategy,” said Chairman and CEO Jonathan Chiang.

The planned structure is designed to combine J-Star’s technical intellectual property with U.S.-based manufacturing and potential joint-venture partners. The company also says it intends to establish safeguards for controlled technical data and applicable U.S. export-control requirements, an important consideration as aerospace and drone supply chains face increased scrutiny.
