Anthropic reported approximately $17 billion in third-quarter revenue as the artificial intelligence company updated its financial disclosures ahead of a planned initial public offering. Revenue for the first nine months of 2026 reached $33.24 billion, an increase of roughly 1,200% from the same period last year.

The company recorded a third-quarter net loss of $23.29 billion and disclosed approximately $895.4 billion in purchase commitments and lease agreements, nearly all tied to computing infrastructure. Anthropic depends heavily on capacity supplied by Amazon, Google, SpaceX and neocloud providers as it expands Claude and competes with OpenAI.

Market Reaction

  • Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN): $251.72, up $11.37 (4.73%)
  • Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL): $283.07, up $3.23 (1.15%)
  • Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT): $524.86, up $2.95 (0.57%)
  • Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: SPCX): $140.40, up $5.68 (4.22%)
  • NVIDIA Corp. (NASDAQ: NVDA): $206.88, up $2.24 (1.09%)

Investor Sentiment

Anthropic’s rapid revenue growth demonstrates strong demand for generative AI, but its extraordinary infrastructure commitments create significant execution and financing risks. Investors considering the IPO will need to assess whether future revenue can grow quickly enough to support rising compute expenses and long-term contractual obligations.

The filing also reinforces the importance of companies supplying the AI buildout. Amazon, Alphabet and SpaceX could benefit from Anthropic’s demand for computing capacity, while NVIDIA remains positioned to supply the processors powering much of that infrastructure. Microsoft may face both competitive pressure from Claude and continued investor scrutiny of its own AI spending.
