Anthropic plans to commit 5% of its shares to a new public benefit fund designed to address the social and economic effects of artificial intelligence. Subject to shareholder approval, the fund’s stake could increase by 2 percentage points each time the company’s value rises 50% above an undisclosed baseline.
The fund may support nonprofit donations, direct distributions or programs helping workers affected by AI-related job displacement. Anthropic is establishing it as a wholly owned limited liability company to provide flexibility in how the resources are distributed. The announcement comes ahead of the company’s reported plans for a November initial public offering.

Investor Sentiment
Anthropic’s commitment highlights growing pressure on AI developers to address the technology’s potential impact on employment. The initiative could strengthen the company’s public image ahead of its planned market debut, although investors will want greater clarity on the fund’s governance, valuation thresholds and possible dilution for shareholders.
Most major AI-related stocks moved higher as investors continued to favor companies positioned to benefit from expanding adoption and infrastructure spending. Longer term, however, concerns about workforce disruption could increase political and regulatory scrutiny of Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta and NVIDIA as artificial intelligence becomes more deeply integrated into the economy.
